ok i just took out my axles as i was swapping out a bad trans. and my one axle has a bad joint. i have a set of 2000 civic auto axles from an old car i parted out. the driverside one (one i need) is brand new. the kid i got the car from replaced it about 1000 miles before he totaled it. and i put the axles next to each other and they are the same length and unless i counted wrong have the same spline count. very easily could have counted wrong though since the splines are kinda small and the light was pretty dim in my garage at the time. but im just curious if a 2000 ex auto axle will work in my crx with an si L3 trans
I actually did do this, but a 96 civic ex and an 88 crx Si. The difference between the axles where only the diameter of the shaft. The CRX's was thicker by like a 1/8 of an inch.
I drove the CRX a lot without any problems. We then put the CRX axle on the civic without any problem.
What happened was I had 2 sets of CRX and Civic axles. I replaced them under warranty. I was trying to put the CRX axles in the CRX but the splines were messed up. So I just put the Civic ones in. Replaced the CRX axles again, then put those in the Civic.
