Default Is this piston slap?

Hi,

I recently had my motor rebuilt.

JDM B18C
CP pistons 81.5 11:1CR
Manley rods
Supertech valves, springs, retainers
Stock cams
JRSC/LHT

Ive been hearing these noises that seem to come from the bottom end, but whenever the car is warm, its completely gone. My friend said its piston slap. Would like to confirm it.

Sounds like it.

What is the PTW clearances?

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you let it warm up.

Hm... Im not sure what is the PTW clearance. I think there is a spec recommended with the pistons.

you run stock spec for stock pistons. aftermarket ones usually require different specs for p2w. plus if you boost it you want it looser

and jake spec i think you forgot a zero if your talking inches

did you use a stethoscope to see if its coming from the head or lower end?

to me it does not sound too bad.

it could be the valves if they are upgraded or not adjusted correctly.

it also could be the new injectors. the aftermarket once are noisy

loose wrist pin?

but the sympthom of it being louder cold and getting quieter when it warms matches the piston slap perfect

he has cp pistons and he didnt mention a sleeved block.

cp reccomends about .0035" people run them alot looser for big hp

i sure did and have been doing it for years smh

0.0025-0.0035 Correction

Thanks

Typically Piston slap is caused by the piston not being expanded untill it reaches a certain temp or Warms up a bit.

Ive heard some really loud blocks on start up and they quiet down after 20-30 seconds

I did not use a stethoscope, but it doesnt sound like its from the valve train, it sounds like its from the bottom end.
