Default GSR project obd2a vs obd2b

I came by a project this week that I will most likely be taking on, but I need some technical information before I jump in.

here are the details
2 cars
car 1: 94 gsr converted to 01 spec (no engine or transmission)
car 2: 97 gsr complete (not running, limp mode throwing code 0, no luck after junk yard ecu replacement) (has rough paint and was "customized" rice-style by the previous owner)

the 94 has somewhat fresh paint and a ton of suspension upgrades, also has the 01 alternator

my plan was to buy both and take the engine from the 97 and put it in the 94/01, but it just dawned on me last night that the 97 is obd2a and the 94/01 is obd2b.

according to rock auto the 97 injectors are the same as an 01, the dizzy (depending on serial in 97) is the same as an 01, and the alternator is the same as an 01. from what I understood those were the differences between obd2a and obd2b. if I take the harness and engine from the 97 will it match of with the main harness from the 94/01 or should I just change the sensors for the 97 engine to plug into the 01 harness?

edit: also the 97 has a red valve cover (not from current owner), so there is a possibilty of it being a type r engine, although I think just the valve cover may have been swapped not the whole engine.

looking at the parts that are normally different between obd2a and obd2b (injectors, alternator, dizzy, and crank sensor) all the parts I've looked up say they will fit a 97 and an01 gsr, so it should be plug and play, but please correct me if I am wrong.

motorwise there's nothing different from 96 to 01. everything on the engine is exactly the same (with the exception of the downpipe or "a" pipe on the exhaust)
