Help-92 accord problems after distributor replacement
Hello, I have a strange problem - I could sure use some help. I have a 1992 accord EX wagon. I've recently had 2 problems which I've addressed a) not starting when hot outside 2) engine light always on (code 09). The 1st I removed the PGM-FI relay and resoldered the joints which fixed this problem. The 2nd I checked my distributor and found the CYL sensor was indeed open. During this problem the car always ran great with no noticeable problems. I replaced the distributor with a brand new replacement - however I now have some strange running problems. When I first start the car when cool - the car starts easily and runs great. However once the car gets up to operating temperatures a couple of strange things begin happening. The car suddenly begins to loose power, the car will idle OK however when you press the accelerator the car seems to bog down a have little power. Also the engine light usually comes on with either or both a code 04 or 09 (usuall after the engine almost stalls). If I turn the turn the distributor, usually I can get the engine to run a little better - enough to run OK (approx 70%). If I turn the car off, it won't restart - it tries and almost makes it however usually won't start. If it does start, then it idles OK but with same symptoms as above. When I let the car cool off for a few hours then try to restart it, it starts OK and runs great however the problems quickly return after heating up. I've checked/done the following which are all OK: the 3 distributor sensors all measure OK (between 400-500 ohms) TDC , CYL, crank angle. The fuel & air filters both replaced. MAP sensor OK, purge cut off & EGR solenoids both OK, CVC valve seems OK, TPS seems OK, oxygen sensor was replaced approx 1 year ago, IAC solenoid seems to work, fuel pump runs and seem OK. I check a bunch of vacuum lines and all are clear. I could sure use some suggestions.....I'm temped to reinstall the old distributor with the bad CYL sensor because the car seemed to run great like this (just the engine light on). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
