Default D16z6 pre-build overveiw

After months of searching i finally found the project car i wanted. a 1995 ej1 auto chassis.
Needless to say, im doing a full auto to manual swap.

After a long internal fight with myself i finally decided to just do a d16z6 build.
My overall goal is to get no less than 250whp. anything over that would be a bonus

Future plans:
-full head rebuild useing everything supertech (that or i have a buddy who has a freshly machined z6 head with bigger cam, bigger valves, and its decked)
-try to find a good machine shop to get the block sleeved (not sure what sleeves yet), notched (eagle h beams), and just overall reworked. i know i should get a block plate also, ill just have the machine shop install that as well.
-not sure what pistons to get, im thinking a vitiara build, but not so sure on that either.
-clevite bearings
-i plan on getting it tuned on handata
-turbo, i was leaning towards a go autoworks setup (not sure of that yet either)
-aem cold air intake
-some type of 3 or 4 bar map
-skunk2 intake manny
-not sure what size injectors would be recomended for this build (still researching)
-aem fuel managment system
-not so sure on exhaust system yet either, i know i want 2.5" or 3" inch exhaust with a high flow cat all the way down.
-install a limited slip diff
-exedy clutch kit with a lightweight flywheel

if i missed anything, let me know.

i plan to keep ac, and drop ps.

ive been planning this build for a while, and i have alot running through my head. ive just recently started my current career and the paychecks should be rolling in soon.

one of the best things, is that i live in Ms and dont have to worry about any smog tests.

And again, if ive missed anything let me know. the way i word things can also be misleading sometimes according to my friends also. lol

IM LOOKING FOR OPINIONS, AND OR CORRECTIONS. MY BUILD IS BASED UPON MOST OF WHAT IVE RESEARCHED. i dont want to start this build just for me to buy something that is too small or too big.

thanks guys

Post build overview? I don't know if I read it wrong but I was expecting it to be completed already, isn't that was post-build means? aha that is unless you're gathering the photos already. (see below for a quick method to multiple photo upload)

I recommend using www.imgur.com; here's a trick to upload your photos and instantly grab the IMG codes to use them in this forum:
(click steps to see how it should look like)
1) Drag+Drop or select the photos you're going to upload
2) Click Upload (DO NOT GROUP AS ALBUM)
3) Click "Generate Multiple Links" change setting to BBCode and there you go

i might be misunderstanding the use of "post-" lol i thought it meant, "before"

thanks for the tip, im just trying to get everything in complete order before the build starts, ive been cleaning up the engine bay and pulling the auto trans here recently.

i work faster and more efficient when everything is organized, rather than order a part then go from there.

Hondata AND AEM? It's one or the other. Not both.
Why are you wasting money on a CAI if you're boosting it?
Why are you sleeving it? Not needed for 250hp.
What is a block plate? Do you mean block guard? Not needed.
Why have you not picked a turbo? You can't do anything until that detail is concrete. That's the second thing you need to work out after you decide on the horsepower goal.

Sound like way more research needs to be done.

i forgot you dont have to have a cai with boost. my bad, this is part of the reason i posted this. i want it sleeved so if i ever decide to actually use some real boost i can get my tuner to crank it up and i dont have to worry about messing the block up,

the turbo ive been looking at is http://www.go-autoworks-store.com/gostkit.html its a garrett.

I asked a bunch of other questions you didn't answer.

Not remembering that a CAI is not needed when boosting makes you look horribly unprepared.

-truth be told im confused about the hondata and aem part
-why is a block gaurd not needed?
-the turbo that wins most likely is the go autoworks street kit with the garett
-hp goal? no less than 250

i agree with "sounds like way more research needs to be done" as ive said before this is why i created this thread, to see where im lacking in information.

There are three parts to a tubo build.
The turbo kit which is bolt on, the engine management, and the tune. You need to address ALL THREE if you want a successful build.
If you want to count the health of the engine, then that would be FOUR factors.
It doesn't look like you have all of them worked out yet.

Might I suggest you re-read the FAQs found in the Forced Induction forum.

Block guard is not needed because the sleeves can handle more than what you plan on putting on them. Also why sleeving is not needed.

How bout sell both motors, and get something worth building over time...you could have a b16 in your car for around $1000 if your patient.

Setup a spreadsheet with everything you want/need to buy to accomplish your goal. And, yes, there's a difference between "want" and "need". Get a rough idea on the total cost then go deal hunting. Don't forget to include the cost of things like: shipping/handling, rags, wiring, oil, trans fluid, brushes, bolts, washers, nuts, PB Blaster, tools, etc.... That stuff can literally nickle and dime you to death.

Personally, I like the D16Z6 in my brother's Del Sol. It's a nice engine. Even when it's stock.
