Default Building a Turbo BSeries.....

So I discovered one of my rod bearings is most likely spun so I have decided to pull the motor apart and freshen up the bottom end. I would like some advice on how to make this motor better while Im in there.

The motor is a GE sleeved B18c5 running 9:1 Compression Ratio

So most likely I will need a new crank and I found out from my original thread that an LS crank will bump my compression up. If Im at 9:1 now, how much exactly would the LS crank bump it up... I would like to stay below 10:1 CR. Im considering this crank because I have one just sitting here.

Also, this motor will be pushed to about 700whp. I know some of you guys like OEM honda bearings but I would like some more opinions on this.

Now being a turbo motor, how loose should my bearing clearances be (I will be building the motor myself)

Lastly... to moly coat or not to moly coat the pistons? Some say its not worth it, some say it makes a world of difference. Any one have some first hand experience?

See my other rod knock thread if you like

Use the zeal autowerks calculation, and use your piston configuration numbers.

Why dont you want to go above 10:1, just asking? What fuel will you be running?

- Cool, will check out Zeals

- Well I want it to be a turbo friendly motor... Not saying that you cant do higher compression and turbo, but most of the time, it will be a street car running on 93 octane.

- Any other input on bearings?

I've seen a couple motors running acl bearings and they seem to do a great job. I had a eagles/vitara single cam a while back with acl bearings and it made 314 on 24psi with a 16g turbo and it ran with no problems.

If your going for 700hp I'd recommend race bearings and make sure u get the correct clearances. Check RE check and Triple Check. I have a 473hp del sol and i went with ACL race bearings and there great.

OEM bearings are fine, plenty of high horsepower builds on them. Only reason why most recommend ACL is that they're much cheaper than OEM. Full set of ACL race (rods, mains, & thrushwashers) = $135 as oppose to $100 just for OEM rod bearings.

At this point, cost is no issue... I just want to make sure, Ive got the right parts to safely handle 700whp. Are you on OEM HYper16?

Nope, ACL Race . I'm not interested in paying $250-300 for OEM.
