I'm going to get some new bulbs for my CLUSTER and CLIMATE CONTROL, i know the two bulbs in the climate are smaller than the 7 bulbs in the brown wedges for the cluster.

I know that one of them are #74 t5 bulbs, i'm just not sure.

Anybody know the exact sizes for the cluster and exact for the climate?

I'm about to buy some online but i want to be sure before i do !

I can't answer your whole question but I look forward to the answer. This should be a "FAQ" when all the sizes are listed here.

The indicator lamps (black base) are size 74LL. These are available in Sylvania packaging from auto parts stores.

There is one large cluster bulb in a brown base between the odometer and speedometer with a cable attached to it. It is the same size as the dome light, IIRC, but I don't know the lamp # (maybe 194 or something like this).

I think the rest of the bulbs are standard affairs with the exception of the lamps in some of the buttons and climate control which are very small and non-standard (dealer affair).

 

The climate control bulbs are #24, there are 2 of them.

The one big bulb in the cluster is a #194. If your cluster is a auto, you will have 2 #194 bulbs, (IIRC)

When I did mine, the only bulb I was able to find at the autoparts store a #194. I had no luck finding the smaller #74, #24

One thing I noticed is my bulbs although were the correct size were a tad too big at the plug. but I just took a small flat blade screw driver and gently wiggled it back and forth. That did the trick.

I ordered from autolumination.com. about $1 a bulb.

 

There should be one more size bulb in the cluster - they are the medium sized bulbs (between the #24 and 194) in brown bases (used for the back lighting, have blue sleeves for non-Si), as well as the single bulb used for the fuel indicator in the gray base.

To clarify the climate control in the case of 99-00, there are two different sizes. One I know is a *very* tiny bulb, similar to what is used in a fog light switch, etc. - this is the one I believe is Honda specific (or is not easy to separate the bulb from the base).

The hazard switch is also a very tiny bulb, although I don't know if it's the same as the climate control. I have it in front of me (35861-S84-T01).

Large (backlight): #194, Qty. 2 for non-tach. cluster, 1 for tach.
Medium (backlight): #??, Qty. 5
Small (indicators): #74, Qty. 9 (? - are these used for the two lights on top, or are they the medium bulbs?)
A/T indicators: #??, Qty. 6. (You can get these at Radio Shack in a 12V version although the Honda part is 14V. Both work, but a 14V bulb may last longer. These are the same bulbs, but in a different base, as used in the backlights on the JDM armrest-mounted switches).

Climate Control:

At least Advance auto definitely has the #194 and #74. RS has bulbs compatible with the AT indicators.

 

wow okay , i started off first thinking there were two types of bulbs one for the cluster one for the climate,

okay let me get this straight before i purchase the wrong bulbs lol

1) cluster back light (2 big bulbs) = #94
2)cluster back light (5 medium bulbs) = # 74 0r 24?

3) lol getting confused BLACK WEDGES are indicators what #?

4) cluster (2 bulbs) =#24

Wanted to follow up with a response to this forum since it helped me out today.

I want to reiterate that the #74 bulb is in fact a direct replacement for the climate control bulb. This #74 bulb specifically illuminates the fan numbers and the hot/cold dial. The other bulbs that light up the different duct modes I cannot vouch for. I ended up just replacing the board out from a junkayard board for a few bucks and got lucky those bulbs all worked.

The #74 bulb is also the direct replacement for the ash tray light. Thanks again to everyone at Honda-Tech. 202,000 miles on my '94 Accord EX. She isn't the prettiest but runs better than most new cars

 

are these sizes the same for both egs and eks? im looking to replace mine too because at night I cant really see anything on my dash. I have a 95' ex.

 

When i did my led conversion in my eg they were all #74s and on my ek it was 1 #194 and the rest was #74s

For EKs you need to have smd bulbs with at least 3 smds per bulb so you don't get dead spots of light. I bought probably 20 LEDs before I got it perfect.

Looking at the bulb one has to point up and the others left and right.

 

boss 727 where did you get your #74s for your eg? does the brand matter?

 

What marvin said^^^ use bulbs with atleast 3 smds on them so they point in mulitple directions. Tha hardest one was getting tha 194 to not be as bright as the others so there wasnt "hot spots". And i also like marvin went threw alot of diffrent bulbs to get it just right.

&& to be honest i went on ebay and bought a pack of 20 bulbs for like $5 from a dealer in china. Took awhile to get to FL but ehh w.e.
