98 accord, crank no start with new harness
hello everyone:
im new to the forum and new to hondas, please bare with me, ive searched and followed threads and I'm having no luck, i recently picked up a 1998 honda accord with a 2.3 SOHC v-tech 5-speed and the car is now giving me problems
let me start from the beginning , when i picked up the car i noticed that the engine harness was all butchered up, so i bought new engine harness however the harness i got is for an automatic. i have a 5-speed trans and ECU, the car was running before i pulled the old harness, now with the new harness in, the car will crank but will not start... all the clips are plugged in except for the knock sensor ( under the intake manifold towards the front of the engine )
any ideas as to why i cant get the car running? please help
*** BTW ive searched and followed "auto to manual swap" threads and i just cant find my answer..***

When you turn the key to the II position do you hear the fuel pump prime?
When you try and crank the engine over do you have spark at the spark plugs?
Does the check engine light flash for a few seconds while the fuel pump primes or does it stay on?
Most times with a no start it is fuel of fire related. Fuel being pump or injectors, fire being ignition system or timing issues.

yes i hear the pump priming, i am getting a weak spark, i checked with my spark tester, i feel as if the ECU isnt firing the injectors in order to fire up the engine... is there an ECU pin out that i may look at it and ground all the grounds that the ecu is calling for.... thats the only real logic i can think of. the knock sensor wouldnt effect anything would it?
Do you have a good electrical diagram? If so, look at the difference between the auto and the manual harness. Does the engine have a knock sensor and no wire to plug in it, or a wire with no knock sensor to plug? Either way the ECM may be looking for the voltage from that knock sensor. You might want to consider going back to the old harness. or at least combining the two.
