Default 1995 Del Sol - 15x7" wheel fitment question.

Done a lot of looking around here and on the web and can't really find a concrete answer. 1995 Del Sol VTEC (eg2). Car's not lowered yet and it's still the OEM original suspension. I'm replacing tires and my current Rota's are old and one is slightly bent from a pothole some years back so thought I'd get wider wheels with the tires.

Currently I have 15.6.5" +40mm Rota Slipstreams with 205/50/15 tires. Looking to replace them with 15x7 Slipstreams (after research, the 15x8's aren't practical for daily driving and tire selection) but I'm not sure which offset to get to avoid rubbing and to clear the suspension. Keeping 205/50/15 tire size. Was debating keeping +40mm or getting +45mm. Rota's website says +35, +40, and +45 are available for the 15x7 Slipstreams but +35 may be too low and risk hitting the fenders with suspension travel. I'd prefer +45 (rather the extra width go toward the inside) but not sure if that will be a problem.

Anyone have experience with +45 15x7's and 205/50/15 tires? Especially on a Sol? Any help is appreciated.

you should be good with any of those offsets.

EDIT: let's avoid speculations..

factory it was a 14x5.5 rim

so increasing width to 7" means increasing width 1.5" or 38mm. which will mean the new wheels will stick out 29mm (+35) or 19mm (+45). measure how far your rim is from the fender. backspacing? i can assure you neither will be a problem. but just in case, it'll either be 19mm closer to suspension components (+45) or 9mm closer to suspension components (+35).

simple math, really.

The 15x7 wheels we use range between ET35 and ET40 with the 205/50, so I'd shy away from the ET45

It's not lowered, but if I did in the future, with negative camber, the +45 might be too close to the suspension. I was using Bridgestone Potenza RE750's 205/50/15 (which are now discontinued) so I purchased Bridgestone Potenza RE-11's 205/50/15 (from TireRack! They arrived today. ) for the new wheels. I have about 20mm-ish to play with on the inside currently with the 205's and the 15x6.5" +40mm's. It's close to where the UCA bolts to the LCA. The front and everywhere else in the rear seems to have more clearance. Using the calculator the +45's will move it about 11mm closer toward the suspension and 1mm toward the outside. +40's will put the 15x7's around 6mm in both directions.

My current setup is more or less flush with the fender (maybe 10mm or less difference) but since it's not lowered I haven't had issues. I have no fender work done either.

I guess there's not enough Sol owners on this forum to get a difinitive answer. I'll try to get under there this weekend and jack the rear up and see if there's a difference in clearance with the suspension all the way down, then try to put some load on it and do the same. Just trying to make sure there's clearance for suspension travel with +45. Otherwise I may just do +40 and as long as it doesn't hit my fender I'll be fine on backspacing.

you could just go with 15x8 0 offset like i did on my sol. also dropp about 2.5". only problem is rear fenders need to be rolled. i did have 15x7s with +30 offset and had no problems even when dropped. you should be good

I have a 93 si Del Sol - lowered about 3.5-4" and I have ran 17" wheels in the past -

I am not going to purchase new tires and wheels - I am going used!

What offset should I be aware of before purchasing a used set of wheels and tires locally?

I was shopping around for some new wheels for the car and wanted to look a bit more flush than what I am used to -

No the only problem is you bought the wrong fitment.... Bad offset with stretched tires is fanboi ****. Obviously the OP has common sense.
