Default Need Replacement engine questions.

California heads.

im looking to buy a replacement engine for my uncles 89 civic wagon. Attarco only has the
D15b non-vtec for a 96-00 civic.

http://attarco.com/products-page/use...ine-1996-2000/

if i use that engine and set it up as the dpfi using all the original parts from the civic, will it be an issue to pass smog???

i was just talking on another thread and username said that its best to go with a ZC (although i cant find that around me and it was my first choice of replacement engine) engine because he tried doing what i want to do with a d15b and he said his car idle crazy high. he also said the ribs on the crank on the d15b is 4 and not 3 so i would need an obd1 alternator? i mentioned that couldnt you just change the crank pulley from the b1 to the d15b and not mess anything up? cause all its doing is driving the belt.

so im leaning towards the d15b cause attarco has the engine there, i cant find a zc, hmo has them but is far/pricey/shipping cost/ and the fact that i need it by Saturday.

so it goes back to my first question. is it possible?

being that it looks just like the stock d15b1 i don't see any problems you would run into putting it into your wagon. TBH i think their add is labeled wrong, everything from 96-00 came with a 1.6l single cam non vtec minimum as far as i know. don't get me wrong tho, as long as you're getting what's in the picture, swap your manifolds over, your crank pully and alternator, change the t belt and water pump and crack more good mpgs.

thats what i was saying. my friend he got a ZC from attarco but they claim to not have them. i too think the labels are wrong. cause what im doing is driving 1 hour to them and see their inventory for myself. but if i dont see a zc then im going with the d15b (as long as it is what its the picture cause they are exactly the same..)

I wouldn't buy from them. All their parts are listed wrong. One of the transmissions' listed is "HONDA CIVIC D15B (CX/DX/VX MODELS) USED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (1990-1994)".... Seriously? Do they even do any research on what they're selling... **** that.
