My engine is burning oil when it is cold, and up to about 15 minutes after I first start the car. After driving for a while I don't see any smoke coming out of the exhaust. I want to change the valve seals to aftermarket seals since I think that might be the problem. I am running an H22 turbo and the engine gets hot so I would like some better seals. Does it matter if I keep the OEM valves with aftermarket seals?

 

Did you do a leakdown test? W/out doing so how can you be sure its the valve seals?

 

i dont think it will show in leakdown test.

yes you can use aftermarket valve seals .

 

I'm not sure, hence why I said I think it's the seals. It's only burning oil when the engine is cold, not after it's warmed up from what I can tell. I have read that could be the valve seals. I am not really interested in rebuilding the engine if it's another problem.

 

What are you smoking? Do you know what a leakdown test is?

 

Perform a leakdown test before you start throwing money and parts at it.
