heres the deal i bought this car from a friend its a clean 2000 civic ex with a blown engine(blew rod into side wall) i just bought a d16z6 for it but i heard that it wont pass smog unless i replace the head with my old one cuz of the egr. could i just replace the intak mani
also my friend sells me a fully rebuilt v tec head from a 97 civic

 

It won't pass smog period. The Z6 is a 92-95 motor. You have a '00 car.

Maybe, if the mechanic don't notice it's a z6 block

 

Basically, this. It comes down to the competency of the inspector.

 

Maybe you should have researched before purchasing....motor has to be the same year of the car or newer....
