well i have 94 eg coupe and my brake lights wont turn off i still have the stopper dor the switch ive replaced the switch now im thinking its a short, where would i look for a short for it or am i just screwed? thanks.

 

there is a brake light switch when the pedal is NOT pressed the switch is contacted by a plastic grommet that fills a hole. right now that grommet is not contacting when u let off the brake to turn off your brake lights. these dry rot and break into pieces on your floorboard. if u reach up above your brake pedal you can press the switch with your finger and it will turn them off. you need to put something in the hole where the grommet broke out. duct tape =-)

What did you do? Are you 100% sure this is not it because this happens all the time. I would grab a friend and double check. Doesnt hurt to double check before tearing apart the car looking for a short.

 

yeah im sure its a short thr grommets there. ive changed the switch its not blowing and fuses though which is weird.
