1997 ITR, what to do first
Hi,
Im buying a 97 R in CW w/only 30k on the clock. im looking to make it hopefully a consistent 12 second car. I was considering having an N/A motor with some spray for track days, or a turbo... some friends with R's claim not to turbo the R because its a waste, and some bullshit about high compression when i really know that a turbo just raises your effective compression and that higher piston comp just equals more HP and less lag, also with bigger chance of motor damage... i like the sound of turbo.... anyway im looking for a street beast, i want something that will pull like a banshee, but also looking for autoX in the future, turbo lag shouldnt be an issue with autox because id be doing it mainly for fun. any help would be appriciated. or any sites where i can look at other type r's and what they have done in the 1/4 or you can post your times. im not a newbie so you dont have to explain stupid ****...
i was thinking custom t3/t4 or
some sweet NA ****
also ill be running either drag radials or slicks on track
Thanks
Justin
p.s. no hammers

personally, if i ever got my hands on a 97, i would leave it bone stock. but that's just me
r's weren't ment to go in a straight line, they were ment to be on a REAL track...
Turbo LS integras were made to go straight...
IMHO i think you would destroy the "essence of R" by drag racing it.. but that's just me, and hey, what do i know..
What happened to your "
Civic EX
SHOWCAR
"?
You want the truth? Learn to drive the car first, then mod if you like. Tires of your choice should be the first upgrade.
What # is the '97?

DAMN, these arent the answers i wanted to hear... well **** then if the R isnt for me because i like to drag then what kinda of car would you gurus reccomend? I want to do serious drag racing and some autox. i dont want a car that is only good for one thing. it must be all around.
mmm, the EX showcar is in the garage thanks.

ok so why is it cool to make a 00' itr na and fast as hell, but not cool to make a 97 fast.... you guys are too critical but i can understand your love for the car, i wont be beating on it too hard. you guys confuse me too much
trust me if i could afford a supra that wasnt a pile of crap and wasnt auto then id already be driving it,
thanks
thanks
1)get a private garage
2)get all the security mods you can for your car
3)never park it on the street too long.
4)enjoy it
-aoib0t, who does all 4, but #2 is always an ongoing process.

if you're totally into drag racing then i wouldn't get the R, but if you decide to get one anyways, you could make a very quick all-motor car that could still be used for autox. but if you want to very competitive at autoxing, i personally wouldn't go w/ the turbo, i'd start looking for tires first.

IMO, The brake setup, sway bar setup, chassis bars, and the LSD(w/ the R) on the Integra's in general is more suited for circuit-racing. If your dead-set on drag racing, a hybrid crx or civic hb would be a better choice.
My honest advice to you is to get the '97R and drive it for a good 3-6mo. in stock form.
You would be surprised at how exciting the car is in stock form. You might even decide against going full-out drag, and start going to autoX and track events.
Once you drive an ITR, need for straight line speed dies down a bit... and you start looking for the next curves and slaloms!

Is an excellent autox car.
Kicks *** on the track.
And gets tons of looks.
Leave it stock or spend some money taking it to road course. You will appreciate the R very much.
The first thing you gotta do is LEARN how to drive.~
and if you want drag then why bother getting an R?
why not get something like stangs, SS, hatch with open header, no bumper, no interior ..
r is for ............ U know
