Default B16 cluster with D16 engine

Dumb question. I intend to upgrade my engine eventually, but for now, I'm stuck with the D16Y7. Can I install the B16 cluster? Or do I have to install them at the same time? Will the readings be accurate? Are they pulled from the ECU?

Thanks.

Let me just use my psychic powers to guess what kind of car you have to tell you if you have a vss. Does a D16 and a B16 both have 4 cyl? If that doesn't answer your question I'm sorry bruh.

Im assuming that you are wanting to install a 99-00 Si cluster in your Ek? The cluster is plug and play and will read rpm and speed exactly the same as your existing cluster.

All 96-00 Civic clusters are interchangeable, and so are 97-01 CRV's.
They bolt right in and the connectors clip in too, no modification all that's needed is a philips screwdriver.

However, you can modify Integra, s2000 and 7th gen Civic clusters to fit 96-00 Civics
s2000:

D'oh. I'm an idiot. Sorry for not giving enough information. I have a 96 Del Sol S. Eventually I want to put either an H22 or a B16 in it. But for now, I was hoping to have the higher Red Line. I am wondering if the gauges will still be accurate (speed and RPMs).

Mr. Winkey just answered all of those questions. YES. Just put it in. It will be fine. It's really easy to change them out. Like they said, only a phillips is needed.

The gauge cluster doesn't control your redline and fuel cutoff.

If you don't even plan to throw in a B16 in the engine bay, get a manual CRV gauge cluster instead. People who have SI clusters in their stock Civics are lame....just like having a "Civic Type R" decal on the side without a B16B under the hood.

Thank you for the help. I'm still trying to decide which engine I want. I might go with the H22, but since the B16 cluster came with the Del Sol VTEC, that might be the easiest fit.

Thank you Mr. Winkey.
