Default K20A2 or B18C Type R

Whats going on HT?? I'm thinking of getting a 1999 SI Shell in the very near future.....I am having a problem making a choice of a motor to put in.....I have two options......A K20a2 from a dude on another fourm....or a JDM B18C Type R 97-98 spec from JDM Engine Corp..... I just can make a decision......has anybody out there had the same choice to make??? Thank you in advance......

They are two very different engines. Can you afford all the little odds and ends for a k swap? A b18 pretty much drops right in.

How much are you willing to spend and what are your goals with the car let's start with that. If it's just k20a2 vs. B18c5 then k20 all the way.

i have a b18c5 in my 99 em1. love it all the way, i didnt do the swap but it is really reliable and pretty fast. i baby mine alot it all depends on you, my bro got a k20a2 swap in his car and it ended up being expensive but he was pleased with the car and it really pulls!

Can i make a suggestion? you should look into an H2B set up...they have proven to produce as much power as the infamous k series and its probably the same price as your type r swap will cost. the H motor itself is very cheap and the only thing that will cost extra will be the actual H2B adapter plate. everyhting else is the exact same...you get an H series long block and EVERYTHING else is b series.

Nice.....thats a good idea.....the torque of the h motor with the b tranny.....how much does the H2B plate cost and where do i get it from? I would use the B mounts right? How much HP can expect to see from this setup?

Theres about two or three companies that make the H2b kit. I personally have the evolution kit. Yes you use b series mounts. You can probably get in the low 200s hp..from stock...once u start upgrading your air, exhaust, fuel, computer chip, intake manifold, cams maybe...you can get in the mid to upper 200 ..and all this before ever doing internals or even turbo
