Can i save my Carbon Fiber??
Previous owner painted over my hood black to color match the rest of the car. Is it possible for me to bring it back to the wonderful view of carbon fiber i "heard" it was do-able. If not the clear coat is actually peeling on the hood and i can see the weave of the fiber underneath it where the paint is actually still in tact if i cant save the CF hood can i sand the clear coat peel off to the black primer and rattle can (spray paint) the black primer with dupli-color clear coat to make it looke nice & shiny again ?? New to all this body work let me know what my options are thank you, pics below (2nd pic is under the hood to show you guys the pattern)
I have 2 suggestions. Both take large amounts of time.
You can either
A) work with a 1500 wet sanded paper and work at trying to remove the paint. (If you're not experienced in sanding I wouldn't at all recommend using 1000 grit) Possible opportunity exists with a good sanding/buffer machine to quicken progress.
B) Sand with 1000 grit to remove all paint. Purchase Kevlar/Carbon Fiber in a roll. Purchase epoxy and clearcoat. Overlay hood with new carbon and spend 10 hours (yes 10 hours) applying epoxy for carbon to stick to hood, apply about 3+ clearcoat applications.
By 3+ clearcoat I mean apply once. Using 1000 grit. After first clearcoat use 2nd+ clearcoat using a 1500 grit wet-sand paper.
I don't have pics of my work but I liked the final product. I'd highly recommend searching the application of carbon.

I like method one lol seeing by how I assume it would be alot simpler you got any tips for me before I preform sanding ?? You suggested 1500 grit wet sanded where I keep it wet any things else?? Thanks for the advice btw
Determine what kind of paint it is. Cheap rattle can paint? OR Pro Stage I/II paint? Try experimenting in a small area with Varsol or a Paint thinner to see if it will remove/loosen the paint.
Purchasing a Degreaser and applying it before/during/after each stage of this process.
1500 wet grit sands but doesn't eat away alot of material. I'd suggest it as the best grade to work with.
Patience is a virtue....
Haha that's exactly what I I'll do talking about females always helps the time pass, but as you can see in th pics the hood was obviously painted over and it's already peeling So I'd say stage 1 if that ( not rattle can though) when sanding I just sand then one spot till i see carbon move to a diff spot right?? And I was gunna take the thinner route I heard aircraft remover slaughters paint and I was thinking it'll just remove ALL paint and I can buff and clear the hood but someone scared that idea away from me and said a gel coat is used on the hoods and the aircraft remover may eat through it what do you think about that route if not just so I can confirm before I take my hood on a date I should get some thinner 1500 wet grit and work slowly and evenly , wash off all residue once I'm happy with the result clear and buff it right??

Aircraft paint remover? Well if it works fast why not try rubbing it on an area not visible?
Gel coat on hood? The only solutions used when creating a carbon fiber hood is epoxy and clear coat. Epoxy is gel'ish but yellow and clear coat looks white like gel. Even if it eats alittle bit of the 'gel', you can repair it.
Use a degreaser before you work on the car and clean it. Sanding when there are impurities (stones/chips etc) could dig into the fiber/clear coat which is bad.
Then once you're finished use a degreaser once more and wash it.

this is very easy to fix.
If its rattle can you can use acetone on a rag to take off the paint.
or wet sand it off then re-clear the hood and it looks like a new hood
