Element Won't Stop Squeaking
I have a 2008 2-wheel drive Honda Element with brakes that will not stop squeaking! It has been to my mechanic 4 times for the same squeaking. Each time, he has fixed something that needed fixing (all the pads and rotors have been replaced), but the squeaking never stops. My mechanic is frustrated, and never charges me for each attempt to fix the problem (I pay him anyway), but I don't think he'll be able to figure it out. He is considered quite good, but has never dealt with an Element before. I drive a twisty, dangerous, mountain road to and from work every day, and need my brakes to be top-notch. Any suggestions about what this could be would be appreciated!
could be a lot of different things. Guide pins arent greased (require special grease), rust in the calipers where the pad sliders are, rust on the pad sliders themselves, no pad sliders at all, shitty break pads, wheels arent torqued equally, ect. Pretty hard to diagnose without being there.
likely, **** pads with no shims and no grease on said shims.
btw, nice screen name. the positiveness is contagiousess.
