What is needed to convert my ex coupe with a D16z6 motor to a vtec-e steup? Could I put a vtec-e head on my z6 block?

In response to the vtec-e swap above...in this crappy economy and while the dseries does get excellent mpg ive often thought why not?? Maybe even engine management system and lean that sucker out! Beat hybrids at their own game!

Because can get 60+mpg with some work. I had a guy drive 10 hrs from Miami in a Dodge ram to pick up my z1 swap when I sold it. For those that have a long drive to work, it is great. And with this bozo in office I don't see gas prices going down anytime soon.
It's great for fuel economy, but also think about cost. at $3.50/gal, and getting roughly 15 miles more per gallon, you can do the math to figure out how many years it'll take you to pay for the difference.
Prime example - a free flowing exhaust and intake can net you 2 MPG increase. Even buying the cheapest parts you can on eBay, it would still take you a few years to pay off the cost in fuel savings.
Just something to consider. It's your car, and if you want to do it, go for it. You'll need the head and ECU, and possibly the harness. For the optimal swap, and to get the advertises 50+ MPG, you'll need the full longblock w/ transmission, ECU, and harness.

He is suppose to be finding out about a complete z1 swap I told him about locally.
Well it all depends on how much you drive... Me, I drive over 1000 miles a week and I get paid $.55 per mile so the better fuel economy the more money going into my pocket. My 15 mpg on hwy suv barely breaks even while my old 36mpg accord put a extra 2k in my pocket a month. If I remember correctly on clubeg6 there is a guy with a z1 that he built and modded to get I believe 74mpg. If I didn't break my back in a motorcycle accident and need a car more comfortable and more forgiving for my long drives, I would have never sold my z1.

If someone is so worried about fuel mileage, your average 250cc motorcycle gets 80-90 mpg. Yes, you can set up a D15B to make 74 mpg, but will it by itself? No. Would the OP be better off buying an OEM vtec-e-equipped vehicle? More than likely, yes. I hate to be "that guy", but if the OP had to ask how to do this, even though there are write-ups literally everywhere, he won't be pushing that 70 mpg mark.
Speedjunkie, you aren't the OP, and I'm obviously not talking about you.
