Hi. I cannot start my car up without pressing multiple times on the gas before turning the key in the ignition. If I just start up the car without pressing on the gas first, the engine will start to tremble and then die.

Once the car has started up, it can be started up again without stepping on the gas multiple times beforehand. However, when I park it for an extended amount of time (several hours), then I have to repeat this process.

Also, I noticed that on the RPM meter, it maintains a baseline at 0.5 or higher when the engine is working and the car is stopped. If the RPM drops below 0.5 when the car is started, then the engine dies.

I am wondering what might be the cause of all this.

 

When was the last time a tune up was performed on your car? Such as valve adjustment, spark plugs, air filter and so on. If all those items are good I would then check and clean the throttle body as well idle air control valve.

 

where is the idle air control valve on a 2004 accord v6, i do have the problem but its anytime i start the car i hav o mash the gas pedal. throws a CEL on all6 cylinders. it idles crappy and rarly but dies at stop sign. sounds bad on idle. please help? i cnt even find iac. i lookd up part n it matches nothing on my accord.
