Cam Seal Question
Looks like i got some leakage from my valve cover near the cam seal. My friend gave me billet one and told me it should fix the problem. I'm not so sure it will work. Should I just replace the entire valve gasket? or go buy some gasket bond? How tight should the bolts be considering I'm doing it by hand.
If its just the valve cover leaking, then replace the gasket, but if it is coming from the cam seal i would replace it too. The rubber one starts to leak because it is heated up and then cooled down time after time and it starts to shrink and then oil leaks. I would use the billet one, i have a billet one and i have had no problems thus far. As for torque on bolts just really hand tighten the valve cover nuts ( you will feel when they start to stop, they dont need much torque).
If the valve cover seal is not leaking then just change the cam seal and when you have it open, you may want to check the cam plugs also. If they are getting hard and out of shape, change them too cuz they will leak next.
thanks for the advice. i'm gonna put in the billet one and see how it goes. i'm pretty sure is mostly from the cam seal. I'm gonna buy a new valve gasket kit if it continues after i replace the seal. anything i should be aware of before i start pulling out the old one?
