Icon2 Question about ED,EE,EF.......

From what i was told, ED's were 88-91 Civic Crx's that were released in the US consumer market, EE's Are Only for the 88-91 Wagovans (wether it be the EE2 DX or EE4 RTW) and the Only EF's are the ones that were released only for the Foreign (japan) market...... How true is this?

See this link, initially it has to do with the VIN number. The 4th - 6th identifies the body type.

ED3 = Civic4 Door, 1.5L
ED4 = Civic 4 Door, 1.6L
ED6 = Civic 3 Door, 1.5L
ED7 = Civic3 Door, 1.6L
ED8 = CRX, 1.5L
ED9 = CRX, 1.6L
EE2 = Civic Wagon, 1.5L
EE4 = Civic Wagon, 1.6L

All these idiots saying "EF" regarding their USDM civics need to shut up. First of all, who cares what two letters you have in your VIN, secondly, there are no EF designated VIN's in the US.

Lastly, the Wagovan is not the wagon.

Yeah just to clarify on the Wagovan vs. Civic Wagon thing...

"Wagovan" is actually a trim level of Civic wagon. It was the most basic/base model offered in the Civic wagon lineup from 88-91. It has flatter, bench style rear seats that the seat back folded down in one piece, and the front/rear seats were vinyl. DX and RT4WD wagons had split fold rear seats, and cloth coverings for seats. Wagovans also had bars that ran horizontally in the rear 1/4 glass, whereas the DX/RT4WD did not. There are some more subtle differences, but the point is that all Wagovans are Civic wagons, but NOT all Civic wagons are Wagovans.

Essentially calling every Civic wagon a "Wagovan" is like calling every 88-91 Civic a "STD" or a 92-95 Civic a "CX" instead of its actual model/name.

thank you for posting this. the wagon gets no respect, i tell ya.

looking at acquiring a '89 dx wagon now.

the guy is selling it as a "wagovan", but it's not. it's fwd, damn i wish it was 4WD, i'd kill for 4th gen 4WD c'mon man!

as you pointed out: cloth seats and back seats are a dead giveaway, as is the lack of jail bars in rear windows. thats how i know he's wrong about his own ****!

i am not a honda expert like you fellas but it's crazy how the dx used to be the "higher end" model, what era did the dx become the shitty low end?

my bad,

I was reading comments on an '88 Civic wagon 4WD on BaT...

a guy said "saying this has six-speed is like saying an old american truck has a four-speed. Youre technically right, also you're not".

a bunch of guys gave him thumbs up. what is that supposed to mean? that a 76 horse is not fast & the fk'n furious? lol, obviously.

what a hurtful thing to say about such a beautiful car!
