i recently got a 97 tl 2.5 but it wont start in park, only neautral. any ideas?

 

anybody? need ideas before i start ripping it apart

 

Take the center console apart and see if there's anything blocking the shifter from going all the way into park.

Also check your shift cables for binding/obstructions. (check from shifter to the part that connects to transmission)

If all else fails, change your neutral safety switch. I don't know what honda calls this part, but sometimes it's referred to as a transmission range sensor.

 

do u know if theres a way to just bypass the neutral safety? like to where it can start in any gear, sounds dangerous but when i park the car it goes in park anyways
