93 hatch/b18b1 swap with idle problem -- should I trust it on a 3 hour drive?
I need to go pick up my girlfriend in Chicago on Tuesday. Its about a 3 hour drive for me coming from muskegon mi. I just recently changed the oil, plugs and wires, dizzy cap, tps and map sensor.
I did all.of this because my idle has been kinda screwey. If I start the car more than like 5 or 6 times after resetting the ecu, the idle is all over the place and the car jistkinda runs likee crap. The only other thing I can think that would be causing this is the o2 sensor or a short in the ecu. I haven't popped the cover off of the ecu yet to check.
Soo basically, do you guys think I can trust the car to make it all the way down there and back?
My plan was to flash the ecu before I left, ans maybe once I get to the airport if its acting funny..
What do you guys think?
Car is a 93 hatch with b18b1 if you didn't know or if it makes a diffirence

I definitely thought about that. But Idk. Rent is due almost the same same day and I'm sure you know how that goes. Then again maybe you don't. Hah. Idk..
forgot to mention though that it only idles and drives like **** for like 3 minutes. It kinda evens itself put after that and drives pretty good.
I just don't wanna be cruising down the highway and have it quit in me and be stuck 100 miles away from home.
Honestly I don't think it will cus I drive about 10 minutes on the highway everyday to work anyway ans it never acts funny once I'm going. But 3 hours is alot diffirent than 10 minutes obviousely.

The first place to check for idle problems is leaks on hoses coming off the engine side of the throttle body - anything past the throttle plate. Split hoses will make any modern engine hunt at idle.

I think it will be alright too honestly. there's no knocks or anything mechanical wrong with the rotating assembly. there's a slight tick coming from the head but nothing bad at alllll. Every shop or parts store that have heard it run have said its not an issue. Soo if anything is going to go wrong, its gunna be electrical. But I've seen like 2 swapped Honda's that don't have some sort of electrical gremlin. Lol
Unfortunately no.one has another ecu that I know of. But a Guy I know might be able to check.
I unplug map and tps for about 15 seconds, plug back in, pull the plugs out of the back of the ecu for 10 seconds, plug them back in and 9 times out of 10 it runs great. No idle issue, nothing.
When I got the new map, the Guy at Orielly, a buddy od mine, unhooked the battery for 15 minutes to "flash" the ecu. That worked well too.
My method is just quicker.

its 100/day to rent a car here...
Id chance it, lol. If resetting the ECU usually solves it...Id be more then happy to pull over....yank the battery cable for a few mins hook it back up and call it a day.
The idle wouldn't stop me.. The A/C would however...multiple 90+ degree days will do that though.

Yeah see thats what I'm sayin. It almost always runs perfect after resetting the ecu. I figure ill leave early in case something happens and call it good.
But if anyone has any answers as to whyyy my car does this, that'd be great. My gut says o2 but 6hen again ya never know..

Do some diagnostic tests rather than ask for people to guess what the problem might be.
CEL codes?
Remove the air intake and then cover the port inside the throttle body leading to the IACV or FITV. Does one make the idle settle down or is there no change?
