help removing egr valve
I'm trying to remove the valve to clean it and I can't get it off. I can't get any tool I have into to loosen the bolts and they are mega tight. What's the best way and or tool to get it off?
sockets don't fit on the egr cause of the location of the nuts in relation to the valve. You can try an offset box wrench on the bolts. In a worst case scenario, you might need to just say goodbye to the valve and just bend it back so you can get a better angle on the bolts. Then get another from picknpull.
They are 12mm. I used a box end wrench and did what 2stripe said. I tightened the nuts a little and then turned them counter-clockwise and they came right off. I sprayed the EGR valve with carb. cleaner and the carbon came right off.
You may have bolts on your '92, but my '01 has 2 nuts and the studs stay behind on the engine. If PB Blaster doesn't loosen them up, try Kroil. That stuff's expensive, but it will work when other stuff won't.
