97 civic car wants to idle high and hits like a rev limit?
hi guys, so i had pulled the head off this car, the engine is a B16a2, and fire it up, all seemed well, then go and drive it around, still fine, then i go and drive it harder up to 7500 rpm or so 2x, then 2nd time it was a bumpier road,... head home,
let car idle and it idled fine then all the sudden it jumps up about 500 RPM and its like it hits a light rev limit you hear it trying to rev higher but then the computer like catches its self or something and cuts fueling for a sec?
apparently the cruise control dont work no more and horn also? so im thinking some how its some electronic issue, maybe ECM...
now the ECM, can i reset it some how? theres no engine lights... i left the bat out car overnight hoping that would do a recet
also, what i noticed is the car dont pull hard in high rpm no more, it basically like pulls good 6-7 now and say 7-7.5-8 ish its just dead, before it pulled hard all the way up

Sounds like a vacuum leak of some kind for the idle problem, check your lines/gaskets. Remove the IAC connector and see where the idle sits after that, then try to pinpoint the leak. Brake cleaner works exceptionally well for this.
Why did you remove the head? Generally speaking, removing the head will require the base idle to be re-adjusted correctly.

what is the IAC connector? directly ontop of the throttle body? if so then you disconnect it and car shuts off right away,
also when you start the car up it idles fine and normal for about 20-30 secs then all the sudden it revs up and does that
i will try spraying brake cleaning around to see what happens
also this seemed to have happened after using engine degreaser and washing motor down then not long after taking it for a spin
heres a video of it, ignore all the carbon at the back, thing burns oil which is why we pulled the head, couple bad valve seals so we replaced seals
it deff seems electronic/sensor prob to me because even when i open it up it just kinda gives more of a boggy/ grunty deep sound and still hitting a rev limiter per say until i open it up enough that it revs up normally, vid shows all

Make sure you do not leak are anywhere on the intake manifold, after the throttle plate. It will cut fuel in an attempt to slow the engine down, that is normal, you just have to find the why. I'd say you have a leak somewhere. The engine will race when brake clean finds a way into the engine, then fix the leak.
What RPM is it as when it does that? 1200?
What was the last thing done to the car before that started happening.

My RPM's when rev'd when it comes down it settles at 1,000 rpms, then goes up a little then drops, n
