I've been needing to get a brake job for the past month but haven't the cash to do so. I don't have another car so I'm having to drive my hatch. I always use the hand brake when parking. The other day when I got in my car and released the hand brake and got going I noticed when coming to a stop or going through turns the hand brake light comes on. Why is this happening? I thought the brake might be getting stuck when parking but im not sure. Is this dangerous?

 

Pull the plastic ebrake cover off and look for the little switch the brake lever leans on its stuck or broken shouldnt cause any problems other than an irritating light hope his helps man!

 

When you say plastic cover... is this the entire middle console?

 

Remove the plastic cap from the rear ebrake cover carefully not to mar it and remove the screw. There is another cap in front do the same there and wiggle it free gently there should be a small sensor visible unplug it and your brake light should turn off.
