Basically I have a bet going with a friend, to see who can run a faster time at the strip, he has a 95 sedan w/d16z6 swap, I have a 99 sedan w/d16y7, so right away I am down 20ish hp, but the bet allows him to do no mods where as I can do anything I want as long as it is free.

I plan to do the following,
remove all interior except dash
remove headlight on passenger side and run no filter on my intake
lower front tire pressure
check spark plug gap to make sure it is right
have as little gas as possible in the tank
remove power steering pump and take belt off a/c compressor
possibly remove muffler
take out spare and everything out of the trunk and car obviously

beyond that I am out of ideas, and I really want to win, any help would be appreciated

Cut the roof off then cut the car in half behind the front seats.

Also just remove the header completely, forget just taking if the exhaust

 

cross lowering air pressure off your list. your not gonna spin evan with 100psi

 

take out taillights, glass, bumpers, strip interior completely except for seat, run no exuast sytem take ac compressor off, take off stereo system and speakers. if u wanna win accidently put tacks in front of his tires lol. btw post vid so we can see the fail

 

Even if you had the same engine, with that tall geared transmission you are set up to fail from the start. So if you think it's just a matter of horsepower, you are sadly uninformed.

 

I have popcorn ready, put sand in his oil your only chance to win, but then the question is how fast can you run on foot when he comes to kick your ***?

LOL. The interior of these cars really doesn't weigh that much. The front seats, but even then it wont help much.

The only thing removing the muffler will do is make the car louder.

 

 

hmm i used to drive a y7, you have no vtec. z6 will eat you all day unless he cant drive. only way to go around this is a loophole.... if you can do whatever you want but it must be free, then borrow a turbo kit and return it after

but no seriously you WILL lose because of the vtec. i had a y7 and would race against other singlecam w/vtec (z6 and y8) and even when id own them out of the hole by a car length or two once that vtec pops hell pass right by you

For a year and a half, I was 3rd highest moderator on a vBulletin forum with over 100,000 daily active members (900,000 registered). Dealing with trolls and pre-teens became a routine. I wonder where this OP is now, I'd like to know how serious he is and what's the outcome of his 'bet' and what happened to his turbo and superchargers.

 

Wow I am surprised by all the hate, the car in question is actually not mine, but I figured if I said it was my coworkers car, you would all just assume it was mine anyways, so there is that. I do appreciate the info on the tranny I hadnt even thought that far into it. Basically this turned into a bet between 2 kids at my work, and I and some other older, more experienced guys decided that we would try to make the race more fair, seeing as the z6 car is obviously at an advantage, so I was just trying to gain some insight. I knew my team was already at a disadvantage, and you all confirmed it, I was curious to see what kind of ideas you all could come up with though.

For the record I do still have my turbo coupe, since appearently you have to have a decent car to know what you are talking about around here.
