Help! Can't pull cel codes. b18c in eg hatch
I have searched and searched but I cannot find any threads related to my problem. I was running a virgin p28 obd1 and got a vtec solenoid and 02 heater senor codes. I replaced the p28 with another ps28 but with a Hondata s300 unit. That killed my vtec problem but now I have a CEL and when the scanner is plugged up it gets power but no communication with the car whatsoever. PLEASE help me fix this problem ASAP.
p.s. I hardwired the 02 heater sensor too. The harness is obd1 but there is a second o2 sensor which runs on the cat (in my case, test pipe) that I just avoided putting in since I am running an obd1 harness with obd1 ecu. The swap was done before I purchased the car. I'm trying to get a tune by the end of this week/early next week so I need to kill the CEL.

And you only got the CEL with the Hondata? Sounds like a Hondata issue. Not a Honda issue.
Maybe just use a paperclip to pull your codes.

No I got the codes with the virgin p28 but that was because the o2 wasn't even wired up and I'm guessing it was for a single cam because vtec wasn't engaging at all until I swapped the ecu with a p28 that was chipped and socketed with the s300
That's the problem. After I plugged up the new ecu I can't even pit the codes with a paper clip. Plugged up a 8 thousand dollar snap-on scanner and it gets power but no communication with the ecu whatsoever.

I suggest you get an obd1 virgin p72 for that motor and pull the cel codes manually! It doesn't matter how expensive your tools are if you don't have the correct setup to read the codes then you will continue to have that issue. My .2
"no communication through the DLC" pretty much means, no communication through the DLC. What do you think it means? I thought it was self-explanitory.
But swapped cars are not my specialty so maybe someone can come along and say that statement is wrong. But I did pull that quote out of a post that had the exact same setup you're running and the OP asked the exact same question.

ok so I got home from work and hooked up the laptop to the s300 unit. o2 heater code and knock sensor. o2 was hardwired so I just decided to disable it. As far as the knock sensor code...the car idles normal and is not going into limp mode but why am I getting the knock sensor code?
About the virgin p28 working some say yay, some say nay but that ecu is for a SOHC VTEC so try a p72 (obd1) and go from there that might help you fix the problems that you have now
I'm running a jdm p72 basemap. I have a s300 unit. or do I straight up need a p72 donor ecu? I thought p28's were the exact same. I hope I don't need a p72 cuz I had one when I first got the car.
