Selling my '05 RSX Type-S, how much should I ask for it?
Hey everyone
I, unfortunately, have to sell my beloved RSX type-s after 7 years because I have to move to New York City and can't afford to live there and have a car
I'm hoping to put it up on Craigslist and the like in the next few days, so my question is this: how much do you think I should reasonably ask for it?
It's a stock silver 2005 Type-S (6-speed stick, of course) with only 26,000 miles and new tires. Kelly Blue Book's magical computers tell me I should expect $15,000-$17,000 for it, depending on its condition, but I don't trust computers. It's not in fantastic condition on the outside or interior, i.e. bumps and scratches, but the engine/transmission/clutch/etc are all tip-top
What do you guys think? I'm considering putting down $15k as a high-ball and hoping someone will offer $12-13k. Does that sound right? Am I insane?

Only 26k?
And I assume you're the original owner...$15k to start out with sounds good to me. If you have all the maintenance records, even better.

Yeah I'm the original owner and I know 26k in 7 years sounds absurd but it's not my fault I've lived/gone to school/worked all within a mile of eachother for the better part of a decade
'$14-15k, but negotiable' sounds about right in this economy.
Since the car is stock, I'd have it professionally detailed. A stock, low mile, freshly detailed type S should fetch a premium in the long island/5-boroughs area.
Being the original (mature?) owner, full service history/receipts, etc will also help tremendously in the FS ad...

I appreciate the advice, guys.
And just for the record, I listed it at $15,000 (on Craitslist and AutoTrader), got a few immediate offers in the 12-13k range, but waited a few more days and ended up selling it for $14,000 even. I'd say it was a success.

Thats even better, you got 2k more than you were expecting!
