Icon6 First honda...few questions.

hi i just bought my first honda a 1996 accord dx automatic and i have a few questions I noticed one day when i was inspecting the passenger cv axle and behind the tire in that general area there was oil looked old but a little wet.... my question is if there was old fluid there could the components get hot enough to heat it up and make it look wet? also when i jacked it up in the air to replace driver cv axle and climbed under the car to set it in the tranny i noticed fluid all around the bottom of the engine. looked pretty old and i think it was oil. If it is an oil leak it is very slow becuase i have noticed any on the ground yet and ive had the car about a week and when i had it in the air workin on it it didnt drip one time an i had it up for 2 maybe 3 hours not a single drop came down. Another thing is it normal for this year accord to be a lil jerky when its shifting sometimes...it seems to shift smooth for the most part and the rpms are fine.just jerky when accelerating on occasion sometimes.

If the CV axle boot is not ripped or leaking, and if there is no leak from the brakes, its probably just old fluid.

Old fluid, road grime, etc. Straight Simple Green and a hose will remove most of that crud.

If there are a few miles on the car more than likely the MN/NC sensors on the tranny are covered in crud. You can rectify this by removing the sensors and cleaning off the magnetic material that builds up on the magnetic sensor.
They are located on the right side cover(Part#1) of the transmission(passenger side) There is one located on the back of the trans and one at the front. Kind of hard to see with a stock air box. Remove the under tray, and remove the passenger wheel. You will need a 10mm 6 point wrench, and two new O-rings

Part # 15 and 16 are the sensors. You do not need to replace them. Just remove, clean off all the gunk on the end of the sensors and replace the O- rings Part# 24.
If you do not replace the O rings the trans WILL leak.

Or if you can find a couple of 16mm x 2.1mm O rings then you should be fine.

When you remove the bolt, before trying to pull the sensor out, rotate it slightly to break the old O-ring free.

thanks mike....guess the tranny jerking occasionaly ill have to wait on it. I have a few other questions that have arisen. One I Have a leak to do with my radiator that i believe is making it run hot that i just discovered. i put dex mer prestone in my resevoir tank and a few day later went back to check it out and noticed that i had green coolant in my radiator and orange dex merc in my resevoir. so it obviously isnt a flow between the radiator and resevoir and when i turn it on i notice theres a lil leak right were the overflow hose connects to the radiator. i think its the thermostat any opinions if im right? if not any suggestions? also i believe my valve gaskets need replaced because there is oil in the spark plug wells. will this make my car run hot to? and is there anybody that knows the torque specs for the valve cover and rocker arm. as well as the order i am supposed to remove the bolts on the rocker arm? also when i remove the RAA do i have to do a Valve adjustment before i put it back on or is that optional? i have a 96 accord 2.2l 4cyl non-vtec. ill post pictures later of my problem areas any help is greatly apprecciated.
