Dohc zc dizzy dead. Will d16a6 be the same?
Got my Ef7 on the road a few days ago, running fine, was throwing a code 8. But didnt affect driveability and I could go full throttle no problem.
Today all of the sudden I reved out past 4000 and the car turned off, went into limp mode in the middle of traffic. Pulled the carpet back and it is blinking a code 4, I managed to limp the car to my desination and back after pulling the ecu fuse I could drive the car fine but if I went over 3500 the car would turn off again.
So the car is an Ef7, has a factory installed dohc zc engine. Code 4 and 8 are both distributor codes and all my wiring is good and factory unmolested so Im thinking thats good and I just need a new dizzy. I do have a spare d16a6 engine in my storage unit, sitting for 2 years but ran fine before that.
Would it be the same distributor? My storage is a fair drive away so I figured Id ask first.
Thanks guys

No the d16a6 dizzy won't work properly. Maybe you could ghetto rig it but the correct one is a TD03u (same as an 89 acura integra d16a1). That is assuming it has the 88-91 zc and not the obd1 zc.
