Default window and start problem

I bought my grandson a 1999 accord yesterday and the previous owner replaced the cd player prior to us picking the car up. We drove about 75 miles home stopping for gas and the cd player worked fine. He went to take a friend home and when he started to leave here are my problems:

1.the passenger window will not roll up. You can hear the motor but that is all.

2. the cdplayer isn't working now.

3. when he started the car he had his head lights on and it started but died two separate times. he turned his head lights off and it started fine.

I knew there would be some problems to work out and this is what is happening and i need some help. Don't know if the cd player has caused the starting problem or not. I know if has nothing to do with the window problem.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Default Re: window and start problem

This is my second attempt at responding. Hopefully my computer won’t crap out again. I’ve had my 99 accord V6 for 13 years. A few years ago my ignition was giving me problems. Basically when the relay overheated the ignition wouldn’t work very well. If I waited long enough between trips it would usually be fine but if I tried to drive it too soon I had problems. Also, sometimes the car would actually turn off in the middle of driving. I put a new ignition switch in and haven’t had any problems since. I also replaced the main relay first but that didn’t quite do the trick. If you get the 1998-2002 accord service manual from the library and buy the part online you can probably do it yourself (or supervise as your grandson does it) for $60 or so. A dealership would charge about $300. Majestic Honda in Rhode Island has good online prices. As far as the CD is concerned, at one point my CD laser stopped working so I had to send it in to be fixed. If the rest of the radio works it’s probably the laser. As far as the window, you’ll have to take the inside door panel off and see if you can see what’s going on. It’s possible something mechanical is broken if the motor sounds fine. I’m currently having a window issue where I can open/close the passenger window by pressing the controls on the passenger door but not if I press the controls on the driver door. It seems like your problem is different, though. Also, on an unrelated but very important note, if you haven’t already, check the brake lines that run from the front to the back of the car. They are on the driver side (along with the fuel line). Unless you live in a warm climate or someone already fixed them they are probably really corroded and ready to fail. Honda didn’t do such a great job with that.
