Default bypass an install of knock sensor

i was talking to my cousin about using an h23 ecu on a f22b dohc motor and i said that it needed a knock sensor but he responded with using one of the sensors from the exhaust manifold or the cat. instead of intalling a knock sensor. now this is not the propler way but is this possible to accomplish so that the engine will not go into limp mode. or is this just an idea

i was under the impression H23A1's didnt have a knock sensor.. doesnt seem like it would benefit from one.

you could do it, as long as the readings from a properly working o2 sensor and a properly working knock sensor are the same (or at least very, very close).
