Default Timing Belt Tension (w/ Video) after cam gear install

i recently installed my AEM cam gear. here's a pic btw. the crank pulley is at TDC at this pic. is it ok?

I researched a bit on how to adjust the timing belt tension, and using the 90 degree rule. here's a video of my timing belt's tension. i really dont know if its just right. i gave it a run till 7k rpm, seems ok.

nevermind the birds chirping.

was i doing the 90 degree test right?

i never have done that 90 degree test before

i just loosened the tensioner, 1/4 turn, tighten tensioner, did a couple rotation then double checked marks. belt never skipped

what i did is:

1. rotated the engine 5 times and then SET it to TDC
2. loosened tensioner bolt approx 180 degrees
3. rotated engine so that it runs 3 teeth on the cam gear
4. tightened the tensioner bolt
5. checked the markings

the 90 degree rule is some kind of test if its tensioned properly i guess. but i still am anxious if i did it right.

lol it looks like your wacking off that belt.

the belt should have most of the slack on the exhaust side andtighter on the intake side. that how all of my belts end up.
and if i do the procedures and the belt is still too loose ill loosen the tensioner spin it 3 teeth then pull up on the tensioner and take the slack out while tightening the bolt at the same time.. i dont go hulk on the tension just enought to get the belt snug..

in the vid when the motors running watch all the slack you have on the intake side. you can see it flapping around..
i gaurentee your about to skip a tooth maybe even more if that belt loosens up just a little bit more.
than you have bent valves on your hands.

i already did the:

loosen tensioner bolt
spin 3 teeth on cam gear
tighten tensioner bolt

how do you pull up the tensioner? i have no access to it because i didnt want to remove the lower cover. i only removed the upper cover.

Well that's your problem... You can't be lazy while doing things like this. You can find out the hard way or take my advice.
Take the cover off.. I'm sure your afraid of the crankshaft pulley bolt if you pcant brake it loose drive to a shop and have em take it off and reinstall it. Obviously not tourqued just snug to get back home and remove the rest.

im just puzzled because i did what the service manual said to do. TDC, loosen tighten bolt, 3 teeth, loosen tighten tensioner bolt. thats it.

the firewall side of the belt is pretty tight, the radiator side is what i can say a lil bit loose. dunno if thats just right?

Definitely take the lower cover off or you can use any soft of tool with a 90 degree bend to pull up a little on the tensioner. I just went by the helms manual.
