Default Swapped in H22A Into My 1997 ITR!!!

Well this being my first post here I hope you guys don't rip on mt too hard. A friend of mine told me about this place so I thought I'd check it out. Anyways I've got a 1997 ITR and about 5 months ago I spun a rod bearing when I mis-shifted from 5th into second gear on the freeway. I was trying to grab 4th gear hitting my off-ramp.

Anyways to make a long story short rather than rebuild that diminuative B18C5 back, I decided to drop an H22A into the car. What a huge difference! The torque is crazy! I cannot believe that Honda didn't put the H22A in the ITR to begin with! The B18C5 sucks so bad compard to the H22A that I cannot believe I ever liked the B18C5!

If any of you ever want to drop some serious firepower into your ITR, then I suggest this swap. I sold my blown ITR swap for the same price that I got this H22A swap and mount kit! I cannot wait to get my JUN cams and valvetrain - then I'll be killing all sots of cars that used to beat me down.

See you guys around!

Wow you guys are pretty critical, no?

Okay before you try and typify me as some loser rice kid, let it be known that I do auto-X this car and the car in fact does handle very well - probably just as good as it did with the B18C5.

I have re-valved Konis and 600/850 springs on the car along with the stock ITR rear 22m swaybar out back. Make fun of me all you want to, but my car outhandles any stock R and has much more torque to pull out of the low speed corners. My H22A also has a Quaife LSD too, so please don't even try to argue that the ITR powertrain is superior.

I wasn't trying to turn this into a bragfest, but you guys are talking a lot of **** on me that is totally unwarranted. A few of you giving me the hammer and all don't even know my car or me, and you are just pre-judging me and jumping on the on me bandwagon because it's "cool" to do.

My choice was pretty easy. I had a blown B18C5 that would never be as good as it was before and some dumbass bought it off of me just because it's an ITR motor. I took the abundant money he gave me and bought a full Prelude swap with factory LSD. I sold the factory LSD and got the better Quaife. I had enough money from selling my blown no good ITR swap to get my motor swap and mounts.

I spent good money on a good suspension set-up and the car is so much better than before with the torqueless B18C5.

on you right back for making uneducated remarks.

I heard that the 3.0L TL/CL Type S engine would do great in the ITR too. If you unfortunately mis-shifted and blew the engine again, you should look into that option.

You say something like that in an ITR forum and don't expect to get flamed..?? If that's not flame material, I don't know what is. I'd like to see pics though.

Stop focusing on the swap, there's other reasons to give him a in his post.

How much heavier is a H22? Me is not sure. Beyond that, does it sit with more weight in front of the axle? behind?

for doing something different, for choosing a h22a when a B20/VTEC would have owned IMO.

The H22A swap weighs exactly 96lbs. more than my old ITR powertrain. I think the Quaife definately added about 10 or so lbs. to that figure because it's way heavier than the O.E unit. The weight sits very close to how it sits in the Prelude from what I can tell. I've got a pretty crazy spring set-up to balance the weight out and I've also got a C/F hood to kind of take some of the extra weight from up front.

I cannot believe that Honda didn't put the H22A in the ITR to begin with! The B18C5 sucks so bad compard to the H22A that I cannot believe I ever liked the B18C5!

Okay so please tell me what make you any more qualified to tell me that my statement was flame material.

I have owned this car since it was brand new in 1997. I am more than familiar with how "great" the B18C5 is than a lot of the people here that went out and bought the Yellow and Black Rs 3 and 4 years later, thank you. If I dropped an H22A into my car and it pulls better in all RPM ranges then how in the hell can my opinion based on more experience than most here be considered flame material?

So perhaps my statement was a tad on the bold side. Of course I know that Honda would not have put an H22A into the Type R because they have to make it apeal to the masses to an extent too, but hell after driving this car with the H22A I would never go back B18C5 again. If you have a problem with that then there's nothing I can do, but stop acting like an H22A in an R is so sacriligious.

Why not B20/VTEC? Because I want a reliable motor that isn't pieced together and has about 3 or 4 different people into it. You have the parts guy, the machinist, the builder, etc. It's not my cup of tea. My power and torque will be spanking B whatevers after my cams and valvetrain.

And those of you asking for pictures you must understand that I'm an e-tard when it comes to the technical stuff like getting pics on the computer. I have some pretty good pics but i have no clue on how to get them on here. Some help would be nice.

To those of you who aren't grilling the hell out of me I say thanks, but for those of you who are being closed-minded elitists you can eat my *** with a spoon.

H22ina97ITR, email the pics to me. Mikeymike1979@hotmail.com

I will help you post them in here. Welcome to Honda--Tech.com Ive been on this board just about a year and a half now and have learned that this board has the MOST HATERS than any other board out there. There are bandwagoners. Its really sad because most of them cant even think for themselves.

For those who hate on such a swap. I know a few knowledgable members and hardcore racers who have DUMPED their B18C5 swap for this motor.

B20/Vtec would OWN the H22......Thats great you go get your cams. you may be faster than that b20.....that is untill it gets cams.....

I don't care who you are and how much "more" power you say there is you ruined my dream car and killed the heart of an awesome car. You deserve to be hung by your nuts in a public place so everyone can laugh at you.
