Timing troubles...KPRO??
Recently bought a 02 type s with about 100k on the clock...car seemed to run fine minus the lack of vtec and price was good so i jumped on it...get to digging into it later and find i have the dreaded timing code that was being concealed wih the Kpro...i pulled the valve cover to discover my timing off by about 3 teeth...so i have decided to replace the timing chain, guides and tensioner since i hear its a common problem on kseries...this is my question though, the car was at one time boosted along with a few other setups, im wondering if the timing could have been altered with Kpro via cam angle or something else? I am not familiar with tuning at all and Kpro is still somewhat confusing to me, i just dont want to end up replacing the chain and my timing still be off cause of something in Kpro that i dont know how to correct if thats even possible...i tried flashing to the stock tune and using it but the car wouldnt even start on that, im guessing cause the timing was off or because i have 440cc injectors idk...any help/input is appreciated.
mechanical timing being off like that wont be fixed through kpro. hope you plan to pull the motor to replace all that, otherwise you'll want to stab yourself in the eye.
ok cool thats what i was wondering, ya i had planned on just doing it with the motor out...guessing it will be faster that way anyway seeing as theres no room to work around it.
yeah I changed a tensioner once in the car and OMG what a pain in the dick....
So when you uploaded the stock tune it wouldn't even start? That doesn't seem right. Even with 440cc injectors verse stock what 310s? the car should start. . . is anything else changed?
