Default bad vss in my 95 coupe b20v setup with GSR trans

im getting a code 17 for vss in my 95 coupe. has a b20v with a gsr trans! my questions is can i just switch out the sensor on the top of the vss? and if so what sensor do i need like what car can it come off and will fit? i need to solve this problem asap so any help would be appreciated greatly! thanks in advanced honda-tech crew

Code 17 does not necessarily mean the VSS sensor is bad. Other possibilities are a bad VSS plug, VSS wires, or even a bad ECU. Therefore, you need to do electrical tests prior to replacing any parts.

The VSS sits atop the transmission and has a 3P (three wires) connector.

your right. but im hoping that its just the vss sensor thats bad. im going to replace it first and reset the ecu and drive my car to see if the speedo works! but im asking what sensor can i use on the top? b an d and h all the same? can i use a sohc sensor on the dohc sensor? and if so what cars can i get them off at the junkyard?
