swapping compressor wheels

Default swapping compressor wheels

just wanted to know what would be involved in swapping out my compressor wheel for something a bit bigger. I currently have t3 from a merkur and it has a .60 ar. I want something that will flow a bit more so I was wondering if it was possilbe to swap in a compressor wheel from a t4 or something. If I did this, would I be able to retain the same housing or would I have to change that too? I read about altering the turbo, but I was unclear about changing just the compressor wheel. Any help would be awsome!

if the housing trim is the same, yes you can, but I would get it rebalanced anytime you change out the wheel.

just call innovative, majestic or turbonetics and see what they suggest.

The .60 a/r on the compressor housing does not tell you any info about what compressor wheel is inside the turbo. I believe that the Merkur T3 has a 60 trim wheel. The only other T3 wheel available to you is the Super 60 and for all of the work required, it isn't worth it (IMO).

If you want to switch to a T4 compressor, you need a T4 compressor wheel, a T4 compressor housing, and a new backplate.
