Default Fog light switch (USDM to JDM)

Hello everyone, I have searched with no luck on how to wire up my jdm fog light switch (5 wires) from my usdm switch (3 wires). I have tried to wire it up already. I got the switch to light up when the lights are on but when I press the button for the fogs to come on the switch will not hold the circuit. If I press the button the lights do come on but go off as soon as I let go. I need to know how to wire it up so the switch will stay on and work normally. this is to be used with usdm type R fogs. Any help with a diagram would help thanks
This is what I got.

Thanks jdmsta, I have seen those post and have tried them. the first one is for the usdm setup which i have the whole kit, it works fine with the armrest switch. the second post is how to make your own under dash harness which i already have. Ill try the second one in a little bit but would like to use the factory harness.

i dont think you can use the factory harness without cutting and splicing the Factory OEM harness.

I just made up a new one for JDM frog light switch.

Here is the write up:

Sounds like the switch will not stay "switched" while pushed, like it doesn't lock. Try another fog switch, or cruise switch (as it is the same), to see if that is the problem.

My thoughts exactly BlueIntegraBoy. Try another switch.

A few of those round foglight switches are momentary switches, they worked in conjunction with a latching relay under the dash. It's the same setup some jdm civics used also.

As BlueIntegraBoy said a Cruise control switch will work also. What you can do is open up the cruise control switch and swap the board over to the jdm fog switch you have now, that way you don't spend more money on another one.

Thanks for the help. Do you think the usdm fog light relay will work with the JDM switch? Because I hear the relay clicking but not latching. I am going to wire up a audio relay like in one of the other posts. I just wanted to use the factory harness. I'll try the cruise control switch since its the same type of switch to see if mine is bad.

I actually did the same mod in my R and used the USDM fog harness and JDM switch. However, I don't remember which wires needed to be connected (5-wire harness vs 3-wire switch pigtail). I actually used one of the links above, but it seems the pics do not work anymore.

No a usdm switch board wont fit in the jdm one. Don't bother with a automotive relay the oem one under the dash will work just fine their both SPDT so it won't do anything. The reason it doesn't stay on is because you have the wrong switch, you have a momentary one. You need a jdm switch that has a spst on/off switch in it.

Options:
(1)Buy a new jdm switch ($$)
(2) Buy a cruise switch and swap out the boards ($)
(3) attempt to build a latching relay system with one momentary switch ($$) and requires electrical know how and re-doing the entire wiring under the dash.

as for the wiring it goes

JDM switch..................USDM Switch

Red/black----------------red/white
red/yellow---------------red/yellow
Black---------------------Black
black---------------------black
red/black----------------red/white

So both red/blacks will go to the one red/white on the usdm harness
both black wires will go to the single black wire on the usdm one
and red/yellow will go to red/yellow

This is what I have on my harness.
-top clip side up
JDM. Usdm
Red/black. Red/ white
Black. Red/yellow
All red. Black
Black
Red/blue

So both the JDM and usdm cruise switch work the same way (momentary)?
Or is the cruise switch a push button?

Would you mind pulling the switch out and taking a picture how its wired up?

The USDM one is a on/off switch and for the most part almost all the JDM ones are also. Just for some reason you have one of the few that has a momentary switch. Yes a Cruise control switch from a gsr/Ls will be a on/off switch. Its identical to a Jdm fog switch except just the symbol is different obviously.

So I figured it out as Ramirez428 said it was a momentary switch, so I gutted out a cruise control switch that I had and swapped over the cover from the cruise control to the fog light symbol.
Then I didn’t want to cut my OEM fog harness so I made a jumper, I found that the usdm plug is the same as a rear defroster switch. I gutted the rear defroster and soldered the three wire to the correct leads. I hot glued the lead so no bare metal would be exposed.
So here it is working, thanks to everyone one for your help.

Glad you got it to work. Unfortunately, my R is about 2500 miles from me.
