Default Is 98 ITR bumper different from GSR?

Hi Folks,

I did a bit of searching, but it wasn't obvious, and I don't have my ITR service guide with me. I figured some of you would know off the top of your heads.

I have a '98 ITR.

I got rear-ended a couple of weeks ago, and the adjuster is specifying a GSR rear bumper skin as the replacement.

Is the rear bumper skin the same part # on the GSR and type-r (obviously it will have to be painted the correct ITR color)?

I want to make sure they put the properly shaped skin on.

Thanks in advance...

Steve

That's great - thanks for the info. I had it stuck in my head that the shape was somehow slightly different. I must be thinking of the front bumper.

I'm sure body panels are exactly the same as GSR minus sunroof and side moldings.

the whole car is almost the samething just little body things that make it a type R, no sunroof, no bodyside moldings, stickers, front lip, rear wing, 3rd brake light in rear window

The chassis shell is most certainly not the same. The body itself has thicker steel in certain parts to strengthen it.

To say a GSR is "almost the same thing" as a Type R is ignorant. Drive a stock Type R. Get out and immediately drive a stock GSR. If you can't tell that the two cars are nothing alike, you must be dead.

I believe the only difference is that the itr comes with and installed lip, unless of course it has been removed. there should be no fitment differences on any version integras of the same production range years. i.e. the 98-01 bumpers are slightly exteded forward, it will fit the car but the headlights need to be 98-01 to fill the gap.

I had a 2000 integra with front end damage. replaced everything and found some 95 headlights, which fit but were quite recessed. 98-01 headlights fixed that problem.

you could just get an itr lip and put it on even, they are becoming real cheap.
rear bumper should be exact same fitment in all years

i dont mean to bump and old thread but there is actually a different part number for the itr and gsr FRONT bumper. i cam across this when i ordered my bumper from acura last year .

the itr bumper has a slot for two small brackets that hold the lip. the gsr doesnt have that on the bumper but you can still mount a lip my removing the tabs off the lip. ill post a pic in the next few days

are you talking about the two metal brackets? I have the oem lip mounted on my gsr with the brackets still attached. It was installed at the dealership when new.
