Vibration analysis protocol
98 Accord, 4cyl, auto, 240K miles, has acquired a vibration under medium acceleration starting at 28 mph, shakes the change in the door pockets. Both half shafts have been replaced.
However, the right side was replaced about 6 weeks ago (O'Reilly New) and within a week I noticed the vib, (wife's car). Is there anyway to determine whether it is a bad half shaft (inner joint) or engine mounts. Or do I just start replacing the cheapest part and work my way to the most expensive until the vibration goes away.
I Googled O'Rielly half shaft and got a tepid to negative response as to the possibility of it being bad.
If there is a protocol that is accurate I'll take it to Honda and pay the $108 for the diagnosis, if hit or miss, I'll have to start with the motor mounts

If you got the CV axle that recently shouldn't it still be under warranty? although I understand if you don't want to go to the work of pulling it again if you don't think that's the issue.
Lifetime warranty on the half shaft, which amounts to $80. Still have to do 4 hours dirty hard labor, so what I need to know is; is there a technique for determining the quality of the inner CV? It appears that you take some hopium and replace it and if vib still there, tough luck. But appreciate you guys taking time to respond.
I'm not real familiar with CV symptoms myself but it doesn't really sound like a CV symptom to me anyway. The main reason I would suspect it is because the symptom started soon after it was replaced. Have you checked that everything got torqued down and reinstalled correctly that you had to remove to replace the axle?
You know what, I am going to take it to Honda and pay the piper, put some money in it and when the Aamco lifetime tranny fails, get a new tranny and then donate it for a tax write off. Aamco tranny has 90K on it so it is probably good for another two years.
It's been a good car, but my wife uses it for work and we live in San Clemente, CA and I don't need the phone call telling me that the thing puked when she is making an appearance in Van Nuys (boy, that would blow)
