Maaco paint/body work
I know a lot of people have them do paint jobs but I need quite a bit if body work, it has two decent size dents dents on the roof and it needs a rust repair anyone ever have body work done here so I know what kind of price I'm looking at thanks ahead of time.
either that or doing it yourself to the best of your ability. ive done bondo work to a few spots and pulled some dents in my old camaro and the civic i got now. if your into hands on stuff you might enjoy it, or like me hate it and just took my time. personally id rather spend about 50 bucks and do it myself though.
I got quoted $1,000 for bodywork and a pain job there. One dent pulled, and rust of both quarter panels w/ one needing to be cutout and replaced. Think it's a good deal if you can't do the work yourself. Every shop near me wanted tripled this price.
Well the thing is about buying a new shell There's nothing around, and everything is already good besides the outside a shell would be ideal if I could find an
Ef shell, 1000 isn't too bad that's what I was expecting and that's around how much I'm willing to pay

Yeah man, you really can't go wrong. I'm still getting mine ready for paint. . . bought a new bumper filler and fender. I painted my moldings w/ trim paint. . . gonna clean the wells and respray with undercoating, so everything will be in good shape once I get it painted.

You get what you pay for. I work at a shop and just painted my own Crx. Quality paint and clear coat ran me 900 in parts. If they are doing it for a grand they are using bottom of the line quality materials
Yes I do understand that but right now I'm on a budget, I'm still looking for a shell but if anything doesn't come up soon I'm going to take my chances. And btw Honda tech is awesome there immediate responses and tons of different point of views. Total opposite of last forums I was on.
Back in the late 80's I had my Datsun truck painted by Maaco. It looked ok from a distance but it was what it was, a cheap $500 paint job. Everything was just taped off and sprayed. Had to replace the back window after the paint job and the paint came off with the rubber molding. There were also places in the truck where they painted over dirt in the corners of the body. They also closed the doors too soon and the paint was peeled off and stuck to the weather striping on the doors. Granted this was 20+ years ago. Maybe they have gotten better.
Here is the deal with Maaco... A paint job is all in the prep work. You can get a good paint job from Maaco, however they are inconsistent due to whom they hire. I have had lots of paint jobs done by them, I mean 5-6. I have had the cheap single stage (was for solid color white and red) which were actually pretty nice and could be buffed out... but I never needed to. The base/clear 2 stage was fantastic! I do almost ALL my prep work on moldings etc. If you pay 800-$1000 on just the paint job there (their top paint option) it is actually very nice and the Maaco local to me uses Sherwin-Williams Auto refinishes. Better color matches and better quality. My last paint job I had done there was not so hot. I could tell they had issues and I said I would never go back... and I won't. Its a hit and miss with them. They CAN do good but that also depends on their staff as they are Franchises. Good luck! $1000 for all your work you are describing is CHEEEEEP! It won't turn out bad, just don't expect show quality and take of as much stuff as possible.. mirrors, door/ window trims, headlights, tail lights, grills, lips etc. They will paint stuff off the car like mirrors and lips. Turns out better
