Default Tanabe Exhaust

Why doesn't anyone here have the Racing Medalion?? I've heard it gives good power and fits nice. I know it maybe loud but i'm going for power. I would really like the HKS one but don't you think 50 mm is alittle restrictive if your serious about trying to be fast n/a.

Bigger isn't necessarily better - an A6 motor will only need 2.25" MAX of piping diameter, and that's with the Intake and Header already done (It might run a tiny bit better with 2" diameter piping). 50mm is almost 2.25" I think, so that's about right.

Yes, i agree you need back pressure. But what about for a b16 with skunk2 stage 2 cams, skunk2 intake manifold, JDM ITR header and some other little stuff? I just think the hks might rob alittle power from that.

You're probably right about that. For that setup I think a 2.5" piping diameter setup should be in order. 60mm

Good Luck

I personally don't like the either exhausts, I like a smooth fininshed look, like a apexi dunk or dcsports.

i used to have the first tanabe exhaust, think it was the hyper medallion, sounded rad on a stock 91 si hatch. sold it to a friend with an ls vtec crx, sounds crazy. it is loud, but when you hear it coming at you from behind, you can hear the motor scream!! tanabe i don't like the canister look of so many exhausts today, especially an ef with a canister going out sideways. no thanks. i think i am going to do an hks knockoff, 2.5" piping, going to a pair of smallish tips, hopefully stock looking. f*ck tha po-lice.

you have a very good point about the stock look of the hsk. BUT the tanabe is not loud at all buddy. TRUST ME.... on a stock D16 motor doesn;t have the trust to push out all the needed air flow to make it loud in daily driving. But when you put a B16, b18, then it can easly be loud.
-I have to rev it to atleast 4500rpms before its lound.
