Hi i just picked upa mini me swap for my 88 hatchback the swap is a b7 block with a z6 head. My question is 3 of the 4 cylinders look in very good condition but 1 of them is blacker than the rest could that b caused by bad rings or whats the most likly cause of that i plan on replacing all the rings anyway just wanna make sure that was the problem and all the cylinder walls are in good looking conditionthe block as 140k miles.

 

blacker could be burning oil. or maybe its fuel....something is burning in there and the byproduct is color. any smell ?

 

It smell a little like oil that what my first guess would b ill post up pics tomarow the head gasket was in good contion with leads my to say the rings were starting to go out. 2 other qustions i had were will z6 head studs work for my block and head combo and will a z6 gasket kit work on the b7 block?
