I just finished swapping a jdm itr into my em1 and it seems To start when it wants to. Battery checked good, only thing I can think is a bad starter or bad ground. Car doesnt even crank , does nothing when I try to start it. tapping the starter doesnt do the trick either. I also install some solid aluminum race mount so maybe im not getting good ground? I currrently have a ground from tranny to frame and vc to chassis.

 

Can you push start the car? What about the thermostat ground?

 

When it doesn't start, do you hear the fuel pump priming? Main relay issues can also give similar symptoms.

 

Yes push start and double clutch starts the car, how I know because some nice people helped me get going.

Yes I can hear the fuel pump prime when I turn on the ignition.

 

Even when the car doesn't start? Have you double checked the thermostat ground and cleaned it?

 

Check the safety switch at the top of the clutch pedal and the rubber stopper that it presses on. Also make sure the switch is properly adjusted.

 

Check all engine grounds

 

checked and its cleaned and tighgen down.

The switch looks normal when the clutch pedal is compress it moves away from the switch.


Sometimes jump starting it will start it up rigjt away but seems like its geting worse

 

If jump starting it helps, have you tried replacing the battery?

 

I brought the battery in and it checked good

 

Did they check it twice?

 

A switch that looks fine can be bad. Test it. Also test your ignition switch.

Finally, clean and tighten both the starter motor and solenoid wire connections.

 

If your starter feels like it's getting stuck. Check the wires that go into the fuse box, my wires keep corroding in the fuse box on my K swap. I think the starter requires more power than b/d series engines.

 

Are a bseries starter the same? I have ond off my b16a2 and it looks different compare to the jdm itr starter

 

I just tapped the starter all around and it fired up, im takimgg off the.starter and bringimg it in to have it checked

 

just got back from all the parts store and the starter checks out good

 

Can i use the same battery or do i have to change to a higher amp battery with the jdm itr motor?

Car wasnt getting enough ground, maybe from the aluminum mounts so I test with another ground from engine to chassis and it fired right up everytime.
