Default 1999 Honda Crv w/transmission difficulties !

Hi there
I am new and this has been bothering me awhile.
You see my most favorite car that I have ever had is sitting!
Last winter we had alot of snow and ice on the ground and my hubby was stuck....he was rocking the Honda CRV back and forth to get it unstuck.
Well he finally did but something happened to it.
It starts perfectly and even drives but the speedometer isn't showing any speed just sits on zero and then the tranny isn't shifting to a higher gear?
Do you think he burned up the tranny?
I need help! Please...oh it is an automatic with about 140,000 miles on it.
Thanks so much in advance !

more likely a speed sensor. Without the tranny knowing how fast the vehicle is going, it doesnt know when to shift. is there a check engine light?

So I wonder how to go about checking the speed sensor. Does the tranny have one ? Please excuse my total ignorance.

hopefully the plug just got loose...or dirty..
unplug it..clean it up...

weird, its not throwing any codes.... ?

hopefully its not the tranny......

but check the sensor...its right next to the engine mount by the firewall..
the connector with 3 wires...there should only be 1 bolt (10mm i think) that holds it..

see if its dirty/loose/unplugged...

when was the last time your checked/changed your tranny fluid?

if this does nothing, id bring it to a shop that can scan for tranny codes. Sometimes the tranny will throw a code but the check engine light wont come on. Ive got a Maxi Diag 801 that works great...and at my shop we used a snap on scanner...unfortionately im no where near you.
