Hey guys im just looking for some suggestions here .
The car is a 1.6L Honda VTec D16Y8 , the car is turning/cranking but not starting . Ive replaced the distributor , battery , fuel filter , timing belt sensor , i just replaced the main relay (its chattering, i put in two new ones and it still chatters) . The car starts sometimes , it started when i replaced the sensor , i banged on the old relay it started , but now wont.
Any suggestions?

 

Stop replacing parts and get back to basics:

1) Does the fuel pump prime?
2) Is there bright white spark at all four plugs?
3) Any CEL codes?

 

Yes the fuel pump primes i checked that , and i dont think im getting the best spark but like i said the car has started before so i canceld that out. And the CEL doesnt come on.

 

This^ doesn't rule out anything.

Check for spark at all 4 plugs.

How do you know that the fuel pump primes?

Does the CEL work?

 

Is this still happening?

 

I checked the sparks and everythings good .

I took off the fuel filter and the gas was pumping.

Yes the CEL works.

 

Is spark bright white at all four plugs?

Do the injectors spray fuel?

Will the engine start with starting fluid?

Is this still happening?

 

Yes the chattering is still going on .

Yes the sparks are bright white .

And the engine act likes it wants to start when i spray starting fluid ,
but it wont start .

 

This^ is the place to focus. We need more information.

Post a video so the we can hear the chattering. Are you sure it's the main relay?

When does it chatter? Whenever the key is in ON(II)? Does the CEL light flicker when the main relay chatters?

 

Have you checked the mechanical timing and compression tested the cylinders?

 

Tbh i dont know what any of that is , but ill do it if you tell me how.

 

No its chatter when im pushing it on (III) , no it doesnt flicker . I know a honda mechanic and he says it shouldnt chatter at all , plus this main relay is brand new.

 

Try push starting the car. Does it start?

 

I will tomorrow morning bright and early , as it is dark now. And will post on this thread if i get any luck.

 

Also do this tomorrow:

Unplug the main relay and disconnect the starter solenoid wire. Have a buddy hold the key in ON(III) while you measure voltage to body ground at terminal 2 (Blu/Wht wire terminal) in the free main relay connector.

 

Okay will let you know tomorrow , also i was going to do a ground check on the starter .

Doesnt hurt to check it does it? And a friend told me to make sure that was all good .

 

Wouldn't hurt, but if there were a ground problem with the starter, it would not crank the engine. Are you having a cranking problem?
