i was drivin my car fine when i wwas leavin work.. then i was at a stop sign and when i took off (kinda hard) i heard a shattering noise and the car didnt move. it goes into gear and when i take my foot off the clutch theres a shattering noise when the car should be moving? idk what it is... its def. not the clutch, i just got a new one and it goes in \and out of gear fine... idk what it could be maybe the dif. or an axle but i just got the axles done too? anyone have any comments?????

 

go start the car
put it in first gear
rev the engine.
does the spedo go up?
if it does
leave it in gear
look under the car at each axle.
if one is moving, you have a bad axle.
if none are moving you have a bad differental.

this is what you do.

have someone look into your engine bay while you gas the car while in 1st gear. have the person look at each axle while you give it a little bit of gas. If nothing moves then your differential inside your tranny broke...or your tranny is gone which is kinda unlikely.

also try to do this fast because if your differentail is broken gassing your car while its in gear will cause the broken pieces to break even more parts in your tranny.

if you did break your diff it was because you were probably low on fluid which caused your gears to become brittle with heat. if its yoru axles...great a lot easier to deal with, just change them out. oh and if its your axle the reason your car wouldn't move is because you don't have an LSD and all the power is being shifted to the broken axle.
