Default Is EG/EK a good autocross platform?

Hey guys,

Up to recently i've been autocrossing bmw's (RWD in case anyone didn't know), and now due to some changes, i want to step down. It takes alotta money to build a competitive bmw, which i wasn't really concerned with, i just do it for fun til i can afford to do full out track days.

anyway, i want to get a eg or ek. I've had honda's before but i never autocrossed them. I loved driving every one of them (eg 4 dr slammed to hell and back, 99 integra, and 93 prelude with a h22).

So my question is, how are those 2 to autox? I probably won't go competitive with them or anything, but if they are competitive in any classes please share.

I only autocrossed a FWD once, which was my buddy's crx si, with sticky tires, racing seat, suspension etc., and i fking loved it!

thanks in advance!

Not at all, hence the reason for the sub-forum.

Independent double wishbone suspension and a light weight chassis will almost always make for a good handling vehicle.

Yes, they can be competitive autocross cars. Personally I really enjoy autocrossing FWD Hondas that are set up well. If you want to be competitive, it's good to consider your options carefully.

"Hondas that can win or at least get close", IMO, off the top of my head:
STC 89-91 Civic Si
FSP 92-95 Civic w/D16Z6
STS 88-91 CRX Si
SMF any light and powerful CRX/Civic
DS ITR
DSP 94-01 Integra w/ITR swap
HS 99-00 Civic Si
STF RSX-S
STR/BS S2000

I think for HS we should add 89 Honda Civic/CRX Si as well
since stock class allows rear sway bar now
